I have taught guitar in Auckland since 1982.

After graduating from Guitar institute of Technology (Hollywood) and Grove Music School (Studio City) I taught at the School of Creative Musicianship in Ponsonby, Auckland until 1987.

I taught hundreds of Aucklanders in that period and clocked up over 2600 classes giving me valuable teaching experience.

Following that I retired to private guitar teaching.

The combination of tertiary and private teaching over a lengthy period, on top of processing my music training, gave rise to several unique teaching insights that informs this site.

Many of these insights have found their way into published and unpublished books. One insight gave rise to the Rhythmisation system.

Teaching has sometimes taken a backseat to family demands, in one case demanding a four year break in my sixties. After that break I returned to teach reinvigorated.

It has been the pattern in my life that after taking a break from teaching whether for business, family or cultural reasons, I return reinvigorated.

I simply cannot not teach. I simply cannot not learn. I love teaching guitar. I love guitar. I love music. I love what pitch and rhythm can do.

I love how guitar serves so many roles and purposes in my life and the many ways guitar fulfils me.
